Eric Guido, Vinous 93 points "The 2021 Passorosso is coy in the glass, slowly opening with suggestions of dusty rose and dried strawberries complicated by a hint of sweet Indian curry. It's silky yet racy with a salty minerality that comes forward quickly, perfectly balanced by a core of juicy red fruit and autumnal spice. The Passorosso leaves the palate stained in youthful concentration as a bump of residual acidity maintains terrific freshness and licorice notes fade. What a beauty. … more

Though not entirely leaving behind his adventurous roots, Pat Underwood’s Colbinabbin Nebbiolo is a remarkable foray into fine wine making. Fruit from Colbinabbin and a gentle touch yield a well-defined, classic Nebbiolo loaded with charm.

A little estate with a long history, fourteenth-generation brothers Paul & Rudolf Anheuser run the family estate in the Nahe region - on the Nahe river west of Frankfurt and north of Alsace. Typically a little brighter and fresher in flavour and crispness than their Rhine counterparts, they also often show a little more fullness than the Mosel.

"The icon is in dangerously seductive form. Such pristine dark cherries, blackberries and dark plums, dark chocolate, finely crushed spices and plenty of crushed dark stones on offer. The palate is very intense, very slick and fine tannins deliver an almost playfully soft impression. The oak is super integrated. Like La Maison Bleue, this approachability is an aberration, as it has immense power, concentration and length with such regal and alluring swagger at the finish. But there is so much … more

"Paul Osicka's wines from this small, new, bush vine grenache vineyard in Heathcote are both beautiful, and unique." - Campbell Mattinson
Producer notes "This is a lighter and more delicate release, but not at the expense of presence and especially not at the expense of persistence. This release is a nebbiolo in grenache clothing; actually it feels quite Grenache, truth be told, but the tannin framework is in that sleight-of-hand light-but-insistent mould"

This comes mainly from a well-situated 0.6-hectare parcel of 35-year-old vines planted on a northeast-facing hillside just south of Chassagne. There is also a little Chassagne village fruit in the blend. The fruit is hand-picked, pressed and left to settle. It naturally ferments on lees for 12 months in small stainless-steel vats and older barrels. The wine is then blended and settled for a further six months in tank before bottling. This has always been a lovely drink, but today, … more

Pauletts Clare Valley Riesling is here to remind you why the region is so famous for the variety. Warm days and cool nights leave the grapes hanging on the vine for long, slow ripening periods. The wine itself is a classic Clare, think Bickford’s lime cordial, chalky mineral freshness and a lovely zing of acidity.

'Pale straw green in colour, this Clare Valley Riesling is bright, fresh, and immediately inviting. The nose offers a vibrant medley of brown lime and citrus florals, delicately interwoven with citrus blossom, while subtle tropical fruits and hints of white stone fruit add further complexity. On the palate, an intense burst of brown lime cordial and freshly squeezed lemon and lime delivers both vibrancy and finesse. The crisp acidity is beautifully integrated, offering balance and focus through to a long, … more

A 'barranco' is a radical vineyard, and they really are: brown schist, ravine-steep, ultra-high-altitude, no 'soil' to speak of, and quite minerally with lots of quartz. Fruit from old, niggardly centenarian bush-vines, now farmed biodynamically, is now gently handled in large older French oak and concrete eggs. Smells of brick-dust, floral red fruits, pimiento and woodspice. Big never so beautiful - it has space, grace and wisdom exceeding extract and alcohol.

The original and most powerful expression of Penfolds multi-vineyard, multi-district blending philosophy, Grange is arguably Australia's most celebrated wine and is officially listed as a Heritage Icon of South Australia. Crafted utilising fully-ripe, intensely-flavoured and structured shiraz grapes, the result is a unique Australian style that is now recognised as one of the most consistent of the world's great wines. With an unbroken line of vintages from the experimental 1951, Grange clearly demonstrates the synergy between shiraz and the soils … more
