Riedel Decanter Superleggero 1925/01

Crystal glass, mouth blown, handmade.

The tall and slender Superleggero decanter is hand formed and freely mouth-blown, a skilful technique acquired by glassblowers in Riedel's factory in Tyrol.

It includes a recess in the base to ensure easy handling, and also features a small special seal with an engraved Riedel logo on the outside of the decanter's slender neck.

PLEASE NOTE: due to the hand-crafting, small tolerances in the size and weight of each decanter, tiny bubbles, slight imperfections and … more

Matallana Ribera Del Duero 2005

From the Ribera arm of the Telmo Rodrigeuz empire, the Matallana is a Reserva style wine, but avoids the pitfalls of some of the more traditional examples. There is a lot of dark fruits, meaty notes and minerality. Great drinking young, but will flesh out with 3-5 years in the bottle.

Pegaso Barrancos de Pizzara Garnacha 2007 Magnum

A 'barranco' is a radical vineyard, and they really are: brown schist, ravine-steep, ultra-high-altitude, no 'soil' to speak of, and quite minerally with lots of quartz. Fruit from old, niggardly centenarian bush-vines, now farmed biodynamically, is now gently handled in large older French oak and concrete eggs. Smells of brick-dust, floral red fruits, pimiento and woodspice. Big never so beautiful - it has space, grace and wisdom exceeding extract and alcohol.

Artadi Rioja Valdegines 2011

"A firm wine with wonderful silky tannins and a sexy austerity. Chalk and dark berry too. Full-bodied and reserved. Very long. Beautiful intensity and length. Tension as well. From east facing single vineyard Laguardia at 650 meters. Drink or hold." 94 James Suckling - Jamessuckling.com

Chiara Boschis E. Pira Barolo Mosconi 2011

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate, June 2015

The 2011 Barolo Mosconi shows thick lines and dark density with well-defined notes of dried cherry, balsam herb, licorice and dark chocolate. Its consistency is plush and soft, although that characteristic tannic backbone does much to keep the wine tightly stitched together. Barolo Mosconi delivers warm vintage traits on the nose and the textural firmness of a cooler year. The results are unique and compelling. This Barolo ages in oak for two years. - … more

Clos Mogador Manyetes Priorat 2004

"Clos Manyetes is owned by Rene Barbier of Clos Mogador. The 2004 Manyetes offers an expressive but brooding aromatic profile with mineral, smoke, blueberry, and black currant liqueur. Larger in scale than the 2003, with more mouth-filling fruit, it is beautifully balanced and nearly seamless. There is tannin to lose but it can barely be noticed. Give this top effort 2-3 years to evolve and drink it through 2017." 93/100. Robert Parker.

Marc Colin Chassagne-Montrachet Les Encegnieres 2013

This possesses a similar nose though in this case there is a hint of baked bread. Otherwise the medium weight flavors are slightly denser while retaining the same sense of vibrancy, all wrapped in a gorgeously long and complex finale. Between these two wines I often prefer the Puligny but in 2013 the Chassagne version has a slight edge. Either way you can't go wrong as both wines are excellent, particularly for the level. 90 Points - Alan Meadows, Burghound

Vollereaux Cuvee Marguerite Brut 2008

The tumultuous effervescence maintains an attractive string of bubbles. The robe is light yellow with golden reflections. The nose is of great finesse. It reveals aromas of peach syrup, and very delicious aromas (salted butter caramels), to finally flourish towards floral (orange blossom) and bergamot. The mouth is rich and full. After a round and generous introduction, this vintage wine 2008 keeps an incredible freshness. The balance of the flavors and the elegance of the aromas confer to this vintage … more
