Located in the quiet village of Couchey in the Cote de Nuits. This fourth-generation Domaine is run by father and son Philippe & Johann Robert. Traditional Burgundy, long-lived, full of colour and concentration. Whilst not owning any 1er or Grand cru vines, it does have a fine range of holdings in Marsannay & Fixin. As a side note, the Robert family is closely related to the famous Rousseau family which is based in a village over in Gevrey-Chambertin. However, this … more

Super fresh, young drinking Vouvray just as it is meant to be. Crunchy green pears and golden apples, deliciously ripe orchard fruit and bright yellow floral aromatics. Fine chalky mineral notes and clean, limey acid that will make your mouth water.

"Getting more than one exclamation in the notes, the 2016 Châteauneuf-du-Pape Cuvée de Mon Aïeul is a deep, rich yet vibrant red that offers a kaleidoscope of kirsch liqueur, garrigue, crushed flowers, Asian spices, and cured meats. It's more opulent and sexier than the 2010, fresher and purer than the 2007, has deep, full-bodied aromas and flavors, and a huge finish. It's a sensational, heavenly Châteauneuf-du-Pape that tops out my scale. This cuvée is 100% Grenache that was not destemmed … more

Tucked away behind the hill of Corton at 350m altitude in the lieu-dit 'La Grande Corvee de Bully.' Marly limestone soils and a shallow top layer push the vine roots down to tap into the minerally subsoils. A very pinot-like nose combines notes of red cherry with those of earth and a whiff of crushed fennel. The supple, round and delicious middleweight flavors offer good energy that continues onto the mildly austere and rustic finish that leans out slightly as … more

Raspail-Ay was founded in 1854 with 18 hectares under vine planted to Grenache (80%) Syrah (15%) and Mourvedre (5%) proprietor Dominique-Ay keeps things pretty simple at Gigondas' finest address - one red and one rosé. The Gigondas reflects the appellation's characteristics faithfully in an elegantly robust style which needs four or so years for the tannins to meld with the wine.
Dense and concentrated with dark fruits, pepper and spices with a gamey note, there is also a stony mineral … more

"Cool and perfumed aromas of dark cherry and plum enjoyed added breadth in the form of a plethora of floral scents along with hints of spice, earth and game. The supple and relatively forward flavors possess a succulent mid-palate but then tighten up on the youthfully austere finish that flashes focused power. This is quite serious and will need at least a decade to come around and more likely 15+ years.". 91-93, Outstanding. Drink 2031+. Burghound Issue #81
