"Do you have a favourite pair of jeans or a favourite dress that you keep in your closet for all occasions? That's the equivalent of this wine. The G.D. Vajra 2021 Barolo Albe is an enormously versatile expression of Nebbiolo, with an affordable price, that offers more value for your money than most Barolos out there. The bouquet focuses on dark berry, pressed flower and crushed stone. It offers good sharpness over broad lines. The mouthfeel is medium-plus in texture … more

"The 2018 Barolo Bricco delle Viole is finely cut and chiseled, as it so often is. Dried flowers, mint, crushed rocks, pine and red berry fruit all grace this taut, sculpted Barolo. The 2018 has all of the energy of this site, but its signatures are decidedly dialed down. Drink 2026-2043." 93, Antonio Galloni, vinous.com

"The 2019 Barolo Coste di Rose is the most open of the vineyard designates, but is not the easy going Barolo it has often been in the past. Bright acids and veins of supporting tannin gives the 2019 its taut, rather nervous feel. Crushed red berry fruit, mint, spice flowers and earthy tones all develop with a bit of time in the glass. There is a bit of nervousness in the tannin that needs to soften, but all the elements … more

"Loaded with finesse, the 2021 Coste di Rose has classic Barolo aromas of wild red berry, rose petal, camphor and spice. It's smooth and delicious, doling out wild raspberry, strawberry compote, star anise and black tea before a minty finish. Polished tannins and fresh acidity keep it impeccably balanced. While already tempting, the best is yet to come." 96 points. Kerin O'Keefe Jan 2025

"The 2018 Barolo Ravera is a powerful, tightly wound wine. Gravel, smoke, cured meats, spice, leather, tobacco and menthol emerge, but only with quite a bit of reticence. This deceptively mid-weight Barolo has a good bit of brawn. It will be interesting to see if the fruit emerges from behind the tannins. Drink 2026-2043". 93, Antonio Galloni

These luxurious "Gold Edition" glasses are mouth blown, the result of a collaboration between Austrian creator Siegfried Seidl, and the renowned Swiss wine critic, Rene Gabriel.
Their versatility is much prized as they can be used for sparkling wines, white wines, red wines and dessert wines. Importer Patrick Walsh describes his first introduction to the Gabriel Glass "it was certainly one of the most beautifully proportioned and balanced all-round drinking and tasting glass I'd ever come across."

This gift box contains 2 glasses.
The glass is the brainchild of Swiss-German wine writer Rene Gabriel, who developed it with Austrian glass innovator Siegfried Seidl and launched it in 2010. The glass has a unique selling point, as well as ticking the most important boxes for any great glass: it feels great in the hand and on the lip, and makes wine look, smell and taste the best it can. Its singularity lies in the fact that it is … more

Winery Notes - "This is the only wine in our range that is not made from grapes grown on our property at Gembrook. This year our Village Pinot is a single vineyard pinot from a vineyard in Yellingbo in the Upper Yarra Valley. In a curious twist for the Upper Yarra Valley, this vineyard is situated on grey clay loam. So while the fruit has hallmark Upper Yarra perfume it has a denser richer palate and tannin structure. In the … more

Producer Notes - "2024 was the third cool year in a row at Gembrook. However warm weather in February at the end of the growing season ensured perfect ripeness. Due to the very low yields resulting from poor weather at flowering, the decision was taken not to produce an IJM or JKM cuvee. Of the eight barrels of Pinot Noir made, the best wine produced was when all were present in the blend. The result, a superbly elegant yet complex … more
