Timpa is the name of the cru from which the grapes hail. The name has its origins in the Sicilian word, "timpa" meaning strong slope. In fact the vineyard climbs up a hill with a degree that exceeds 70%.
The nose has strong notes of yellow peach and apricot, with floral aromas of Sicilian Spanish broom and almond flowers on the finish. On the palate, it is fresh, persistent and has a remarkable acidity that is well-balanced with the alcohol. … more

"Tasted from magnum, the Feudo Montoni 2017 Sicilia Nero d'Avola Vrucara is a certified organic expression of Sicily's vinous protagonist, Nero d'Avola, from a single vineyard planted to ancient pre-phylloxera vines. The fruit is dark and shows medium concentration, pointing to the hot and dry conditions of this growing season. But this native grape thrives in hot weather, allowing for plenty of aromatic expression and depth. Black cherry opens the bouquet, but it follows softly to toasted nut, sweet potting … more

Lagnusa', meaning lazy in local dialect, gives a clue to the naturally low yields inherent to this vineyard. The upside? Smaller, denser berries with greater concentration. This site sits marginally lower than those of the two whites, at 600 metres, and is primarily comprised of sand and clay. The 'Lagnusa' vineyard is the result of grafting pre-phyloxera 'mother plants' some 35 years ago. It is difficult to get a fixed age on this source material, though references exist dating back … more

Incorporating a small portion of Colorino, and old Tuscan variety traditionally used in the production of Chianti, this wine was created to capture the essence of that style. The wine was made for immediate enjoyment, but like Chianti Classico, can be aged for a number of years to create greater complexity. Enticing aromas of sour cherry and plum, with nuances of dried herb. Fine tannins and acidity combine with ripe fruit to produce a medium-full bodied palate with persistent flavour. … more

Grown and tended to in Beechworth by viticulturist Mark Walpole, and crafted by Adrien Rodda, this wine is a brisk and vibrant Verdicchio. Displaying all the characteristics of the fine Yarra Valley Cabernet style. Finestra's Cabernets are built for the cellar and also provide drinking pleasure from around three years after vintage.
"Red and black fruits, baking spice, plenty of perfume, violet and pencils, and gee, it's a beautiful smelling wine and there's a slight varietal roast red capsicum/pimento thing that adds rather than detracts. It's medium-bodied, plenty of fleshy tannin grip, acidity is bright and crisp, and the finish is long and … more
