Producer notes 'The gamay was grafted onto own rooted cabernet vines, which were planted in 1999. The soil is black cracking clay soil, with a mixture of submerged volcanic pebbles and boulders at one end, and a more friable and slightly more vigorous chocolate-coloured soil at the other. The first fruit was picked during the 2014 vintage. The nose of the gamay, so far, is fruitful at first before opening up to reveal berry flavours with earthy and gamey notes. … more

Producer Notes 'The Farr Rising pinot vineyard was planted in 2001 using a large mixture of rootstocks, but only three clones-MV6, 114 and 115. It is a very exposed and hungry north-facing slope, consisting of grey sandy loam mixed with an ironstone pebble (buckshot) at the top. The wine typically shows a soft perfumed nose, which begins to build. The palate has sweetness, followed by mineral overtones enhanced by toasty oak, and firm flavours with a long and savoury finish. … more

Producer notes 'Saignee, refers to the way we 'bleed' juice for this wine. We allow the Farr Rising pinot noir fruit to sit in tank for two to three hours before bleeding free-run juice at a suitable colour for rosé production. This process concentrates the pinot ferment, but we also produce a barrel-fermented rosé. We like to produce a very dry style of rosé, but with flavour and varietal sweetness. It has a salmon-pink hue, is perfumed with fruit and … more

A wine for those who like their Chardonnay rich, lush and textural. This wine shows those riper characters of peach, honeycomb and butterscotch with hints of nougat and crushed cashew. Although it's a richer style it still retains a level of freshness which give the wine a clean dry finish.

Producer Notes - "A vivid nose of deep florals: dark roses, violets, and an undertow of ripe red fruit. The palate really shows the best of each vineyard that makes up the cuvée. A pure but powerful drive of fruit on a perfect cusp of ripeness, with complexing notes of sandalwood and spice. This is all about harmony and balance with the transparency of fruit allowing the detail to shine through. Silken tannins finish the package. "

Timpa is the name of the cru from which the grapes hail. The name has its origins in the Sicilian word, "timpa" meaning strong slope. In fact the vineyard climbs up a hill with a degree that exceeds 70%.
The nose has strong notes of yellow peach and apricot, with floral aromas of Sicilian Spanish broom and almond flowers on the finish. On the palate, it is fresh, persistent and has a remarkable acidity that is well-balanced with the alcohol. … more

"Tasted from magnum, the Feudo Montoni 2017 Sicilia Nero d'Avola Vrucara is a certified organic expression of Sicily's vinous protagonist, Nero d'Avola, from a single vineyard planted to ancient pre-phylloxera vines. The fruit is dark and shows medium concentration, pointing to the hot and dry conditions of this growing season. But this native grape thrives in hot weather, allowing for plenty of aromatic expression and depth. Black cherry opens the bouquet, but it follows softly to toasted nut, sweet potting … more

Lagnusa', meaning lazy in local dialect, gives a clue to the naturally low yields inherent to this vineyard. The upside? Smaller, denser berries with greater concentration. This site sits marginally lower than those of the two whites, at 600 metres, and is primarily comprised of sand and clay. The 'Lagnusa' vineyard is the result of grafting pre-phyloxera 'mother plants' some 35 years ago. It is difficult to get a fixed age on this source material, though references exist dating back … more
