The 1314 range is legendary Bannockburn's entry level range. It's all estate fruit, and the winery consistently produces tasty and complex wines in both Chardonnay and Pinot at this level.
This one has 4 different chardonnay clones, wild yeast fermentation in French hogsheads (about 20% new), and aged on lees for a few months before bottling. Stellar vineyards, premium winemaking knowhow and a great value price.
Citrus, stonefruit, it's fleshy and round with a little creaminess and a touch of … more

"The quality and style can be traced back to the estate's exceptional organically farmed sites. Olive Tree Hill Vineyard was planted in 1976 and abuts the S.R.H. parcel, while Winery Block was planted in 1981. Both lie on volcanic soils over limestone clays with an average vine age of around 35 years. This year's estate Chardonnay also includes fruit from Stuart Block (1997), the close-planted Grigsby (2007) and Kelly Lane Vineyard (2016)." - Distributor's note

"Matt Holmes made a point of working in Beaujolais before releasing this wine. The result is a delightful combination of mouthwatering, juicy vibrance and creamy intent. Densely packed, it shows a mélange of blue fruit, pink peppercorn spice and a floral, herbal lift draped over Bannockburn's savoury terroir character." - Distributor's note

The 2024 includes fruit from Olive Tree Hill, planted in 1976, 10 Rows (1991), Stuart Block (1997), Anns Block (2004). The cream on top? The close-planted De La Terre block planted in 2007." Distributor's note
"It's a Pinot that soars from the glass, perfumed and layered with flowers, spice, earth, wispy reduction and brambly berry fruits. Dive in! There's an abundance of charm and character, with a bright, tight … more

Mainly from vines planted in '76, plus a modest planting in '15. Hand-picked, wholebunch pressed, settled overnight, then racked to tank for cold fermentation (for freshness plus drive), part to old puncheons (for texture and complexity).

96 points, Erin Larkin, The Wine Companion "The 2023 SRH Chardonnay is textural and taut; it is bound in phenolics at this point, but clearly superb. The length of flavour shows this. The complexity shows this. It's a hugely impressive wine that speaks of white peach, green apples, green olive brine, white strawberries and white pepper. It's salty and a little chewy. This will be a seriously great wine-give it time. 13.5% alcohol, sealed under screw cap."

95+ points, Campbell Mattinson, The Wine Front "This is autumnal and sinewy and savoury and spiced, but it's also sleek, harmonious and settled. It bursts onto the palate with red cherries, rhubarb, tangerine and strawberry, with inlays of dried leaves, pepper and smoked cedarwood, but it's the soft-firm of the finish, and the way it seems to both dry and expand at once, and the way the juices keep flowing and fanning, that really mark its quality. It's a top … more

Barbeito is in its infancy by Madeira standards, having started in the 1940s. Since the mid-90s, their focus has been on wines that are vinous and moreish, preserving freshness and vibrancy above all else. They are drier and paler in colour than what you might expect from a Madeira - they don't add caramel to darken, and the retain as much natural acidity to keep the wines light and moreish.

Producer Notes - "Our Estate Pinot is a selection of the best barrels of our Leongatha vineyard.
Fragrant potpourri of aromas, rose petals and red berry notes, with a hint of China tea; the very essence of Pinot Noir. A classic iron fist in a velvet glove palate. A lush fruit driven middle, enveloped by powdery tannins with delicious flavours that dance delicately across the palate."

What began as a hobby for winemaker at the time, Phillip Jones, has carried on through the years as something of a cult wine. Made in tiny quantities, the 2019 is all classic Gewurz character - chewy phenolics to the palate, scented with rose petals and candied ginger. Retaining freshness from the cooling effects of the Gippsland climate, a delicious and utterly unique wine.
