Ronco Dei Tassi Fruilano 2021

Six months elevage, partly in stainless steel and partly in second use barriques. Straw yellow and floral nosed in its youth, spicy and complex as it evolves. Velvet textured, the palate recalls citrus and pear with intriguing nuances of liquorice and herbs.

Rocca di Montegrossi Chianti Classico 2021

This is 90% Sangiovese with 5% Canaiolo and 5% Colorino, aged in tonneaux and barriques for twelve months. An intense ruby-red colour with violet reflections, the fruity aroma is atypical of Sangiovese with notes of cherry and wild berries. Harmonious, well-structured and lightly tannic, it is a wine that can easily mature for a period ranging from four to eight years.

Produttori del Barbaresco Barbaresco Riserva Pora DOCG 2019

"The 2019 Barbaresco Riserva Pora is a pretty tightly wound wine, certainly moreso than is typically the case for this Barbaresco, which is often much more engaging in the early going. Dried herbs, tobacco, cedar and earthiness lend notable savory nuance in this decidedly nervy, somber Pora. There's good fruit intensity and plenty of character.." Antonio Galloni 92pts

Produttori del Barbaresco Barbaresco Riserva Ovello DOCG 2019

"The 2019 Barbaresco Riserva Ovello is powerful, savory and intensely linear, in classico Ovello style, and yet it appears to have enough fruit behind its imposing tannins to develop well over the coming years. In this tasting, the Ovello feels pretty closed post bottling, but its inherent balance and qualities are there. Clean saline notes extend the finish in promising fashion." - Antonio Galloni 94pts

Poggerino Chianto Classico 2021

One of our favourite producers in Chianti - 100% organically-grown Sangiovese, the Poggerino house style shows more fruit emphasis, but with power, weight & complexity.

"These new release from Poggerino are terrific. Piero Lanza makes wines of notable character that capture all the finesse of Radda. Over the last decade or so, quality has grown in dramatic fashion, driven by much gentler winemaking than in the past. The 2021 Chianti Classico is exceptional. A burst of ripe red/purplish fruit, lavender, … more

Poderi Colla Barbaresco Roncaglie 2019

Tenuta Roncaglia has always been recognised as one of the most prestigious and important Barbaresco production areas (also mentioned by Lorenzo Fantini in his book "Monograph on Viticulture and Oenology in the Province of Cuneo"1880). Alessandro Masnaghetti writes in his "Map of Barbaresco Cru, 1994: "...the position of Roncaglie, together with Roncagliette, is one of the best we can see on the side of the hill that begins at Roccalini and rises towards Treiso...". And Daniel Thomases, in the Wine … more

Poderi Cellario Duzàt Dolcetto 2022

One of the best value Dolcetto we've see in some time. It harks back to the juicier, more fragrant Dolcetto we grew up on, as opposed to the increasing array of more structured Nebbiolo-esque versions on the market today. Purple and plush in glass, with soft cocoa powder tannins and a lingering sweetness reminiscent of fresh mulberries.

Poderi Aldo Conterno Barolo Colonnello 2016

The Poderi Aldo Conterno 2016 Barolo Bussia Colonnello shows dark fruit intensity, dried cherry, spice, licorice and tilled earth. The wine delivers its aromas in a direct and immediate manner, with menthol and balsam herb fitting into oaky aromas of sweet spice. For whatever reason, I notice the oak more in Colonnello, but this will relax with time. The wine will be ready to drink after the 10-year mark.
