El Candado is Spanish for the padlock, and indeed every bottle comes with a small padlock and two little keys. The idea is that a butt from this solera used to be locked away as someone from the Valdespino family wanted to keep the wine to himself.
As with most PX, it is very sweet and unctuous, but not over the top. The palate shows toffee notes, dessert with figs and honey & guava. It grows slightly darker towards the … more

"The Romaee-Conti of Jerez".
Moscatel Toneles is one of the legendary wines of the sherry region, produced by Valdespino.
It is an extremely old, powerful Moscatel that was long forgotten, because there was simply no market for it - up until Robert Parker gave it 100/100 a while back. Anyway it is said to be over 100 years of age (though they don't seem to disclose that).
"The NV Moscatel Toneles has reached a mythical status locally in Spain. It's … more

Valdespino is one of the oldest and most traditional Sherry houses. They still ferment a large proportion of their wines in wood, giving their wines added depth and complexity.
Colour is an aged clear yellow brown, very dark in colour (hence ‘Black’ Sherry), with a green tinge from extended barrel ageing. The bouquet is one of intense sultanas which drives the palate delivering mellow sunburnt and sweet grape characters. A heavy-weight, sweet dessert fortified wine, dense with a very powerful … more

A blend of two parcels of Arneis in the valley Luca calls home. The first comes from younger vines planted over soft sand and was picked early and given a direct press straight to stainless steel vats. The latter is planted over more compact soils, picked a little later and spends ten days in contact with the skins before being pressed off to old oak. They spend around nine months in these vessels before blending. It is a wine of … more

Importers Notes - "Nashi gains a lifted tropical scent, mentholated lime and green mango; the palate is similarly rich with tropical splendour and ripe pear, edged by limey acid and a granitic, gravelly mineral finishing perfume and textural nip. Beautiful balance of the perfumed and the savoury is an outstanding feature."

Vanita is a fairly young winery set up 5 years ago in the town of Sambuca di Sicilia, one of the
most noble areas for Sicilian vinegrowing. The vineyards are situated in the hills above lake
Arancio, the water of this lake is a vital nourishment for the vineyards during the hot Summer
months and allows the grapes to reach the perfect ripening.
