Domaine Faiveley Mazis Chambertin Grand Cru 2017 Magnum

Note: from both Mazis Haut and Bas where the two parcels total a remarkable 1.20 ha

Here the expressive nose isn't quite as toasty but it's still far from subtle while managing not to unduly mask the more sauvage-inflected dark berry and forest floor scents. There good density and solid power to the muscular yet reasonably refined flavors that also evidence ample minerality on the beautifully long finale where the supporting tannins are slightly riper. This too should age effortlessly … more

Domaine Faiveley Nuits St. Georges 1er Cru Aux Chaignots 2017

"Concentrated and succulent, this is a really sophisticated Nuits-Saint-Georges with seductive, floral and spicy aromas and just a hint of sweet, vegetal aroma (from the stems of the 20 per cent whole bunches in the ferment). Very long, complete finish that suggests this has great aging potential. Try to wait until at least 2022. " 94 points James Suckling jamessuckling.com

Domaine Faiveley Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru Les Porêts-Saint-Georges 2017 Magnum

The 2017 Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru Les Porêts-Saint-Georges is showing very well from bottle, unfurling in the glass with aromas of wild berries, cassis, candied peel, incense and spices, gently framed by a deft application of new oak that's already nicely integrated. On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied, supple and fleshy, with ripe but lively acids, a fleshy core of mouthwatering fruit and fine framing tannins, concluding with good length on the finish. The style of the vintage … more

Domaine Follin-Arbelet Corton Bressandes Grand Cru 2018

'Here too the pretty nose is both cool and elegant with its aromas of dark berry liqueur, poached plum and floral scents. Once again there is an appealing sleekness to the slightly bigger-bodied yet still refined flavors that exude a subtle salinity onto the detailed, powerful and focused finish that also possesses a touch of youthful austerity..' 90-93 points Allen Meadows - burghound.com

Domaine Follin-Arbelet Romanee Saint Vivant Grand Cru 2019

"Once again the wood treatment is perceptible though it remains sufficiently subtle to not interfere with the appreciation of the very ripe aromas of roasted plum, cassis, violet and lovely array of exotic spice elements. The surprisingly full-bodied flavors are bigger than what is typical for RSV yet though the extra size and weight does not significantly compromise the refinement of the serious, mouthcoating and lingering finish where the only nit is noticeable warmth. While not quite as structured as … more

Domaine Georges Glantenay Pommard 1er Cru Les Rugiens Hauts 2019

"Background hints of herbal tea and the sauvage can be found on the liqueur-like aromas of various dark berries and newly turned earth. Once again, the middle weight flavors possess a gorgeous texture and plenty of minerality on the punchy, detailed and chiseled finish where a touch of youthful austerity emerges. This is a big but sleek Rugiens and that is clearly built-wage. Strongly recommended if you have the patience.

Domaine Georges Glantenay Volnay 1er Cru Santenots 2019

"A decidedly ripe yet still fresh nose speaks of menthol, plenty of spice elements, violet and dark currant. As is typically the case, there is more volume and power to the more concentrated and robust flavors that possess an opulent mid-palate that contrasts with the firmly tannic finish that flirts with rusticity. This too is excellent though a wine that is going to require at least some patience.

Domaine Hubert Lignier Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru 2018

"This is also quite aromatically restrained that not quite as elegant as there is plenty of sauvage character on the forest floor and ripe dark berry fruit-suffused nose. The succulent, round and seductively textured medium-bodied flavours that aren't particularly dense, all wrapped in a dusty and slightly grippy finish. The balance isn't quite dialled in though it will probably improve somewhat over time as the tannins progressively mellow. 90-92 points" - Allen Meadows, Burghound

Domaine Hubert Lignier Clos de la Roche Grand Cru 2018

"There is enough reduction to knock down the fruit at present though the sleek, focused an energetic middle weight flavors possess very good freshness and fine complexity while delivering excellent length on the firmly structured finish where the only reproach is a touch of warmth. This isn't particularly concentrated though with that said, there appears to be enough underlying material to enable the 2018 Clos de la Roche to develop gracefully over many years. 91-94 points" - Allen Meadows, Burghound
