Rockford 'Local Growers' Semillon 2021

Semillon is one of the original Barossa varieties, one that our growers have maintained for generations. This wine faithfully reflects the contribution made by the Sibley and Kalleske families. Their accumulated knowledge draws on five generations of their families’ commitment to the soil and vines and it is this skill that gives the Barossa its strength, stability and soul.

Over the years we’ve learnt to pick each of our growers’ blocks at varying degrees of ripeness, some blocks will be picked up to three times during a two to three week period. This ensures we have multiple options when it comes time to put the blend together.

After fermentation, the wine spends a year maturing in a combination of large old oak vats (2000 litres) and oak hogsheads (300 litres) on light yeast lees, which softens the acidity and builds a lovely rich palate.
