It's not hard to see why this wine was a gold medallist at the Yarra Valley Wineshow, savoury and structured, yet pretty and soft. Balance is key, and the Gathering Fields has it in spades. Expect lively tannins and tart pomegranate juice bursts of acidity. Notes on the nose of red cherry, forest berry and a whiff of dusty terracotta earth.

Xinomavro is one of Greece's most iconic native varieties, alongside the pithy white grape Assyrtiko. The styles and levels of quality Xinomavro produces are wide and variable, with some showing bright red fruit and juicy, gluggable palates - a la the Thymiopolous here - while others show darkness, earthy notes and intense structure. For now, introduce yourself gently with this vibrant, youthful drinking example.

The Steading is much more than just Tobreck's version of the very classic Chateauneuf-du-Pape Grenache blend. The winery feels it is a wine that resides at the heart of Torbreck, exemplifying their belief in the preservation of Barossa Valley as a premium wine region.
Sourced primarily pre-phylloxera vines that survived not only the outbreak in the 1880s, but also the vine pull scheme in the 1980s, across 45 different sources including estate fruit and trusted local growers under a share-farming … more

21% ABV. "My favorite of the two Amontillados is the 1951 Amontillado Selección a rare, single-vintage Amontillado produced with Pedro Ximénez grapes as is the norm in Montilla-Moriles. It's a bright mahogany color with an amber-green tint that reveals pharmaceutical notes and balsamic, with roasted, charred aromas and a sweetish palate that retains the sharpness expected in this kind of wine. It is lacking a bit in the mid-palate before ending with a slightly bitter, tarry finish. This is completely … more

The Don P.X. wines come from the youngest vintage wines from Toro Albalá. The carefully selected grapes are hand harvested from the oldest Pedro Ximénez and are then left to dehydrate under the sun for up to two weeks, concentrating the grapes' sugars. The grapes are then lightly pressed and tipped into fermentation vessels. When the perfect balance between sugar, alcohol and acidity has been reached, the fermenting must is 'stunned' with argudiente (clear local brandy). The resulting wine is … more
