From Chris Catlow - quickly becoming one of Beechworth's rising stars.
Aligoté is not so run of the mill variety wise, but think crunchy fresh Chardonnay with a lick of Arneis. It's native to Burgundy, but performs very well in the single vineyard in King valley. Chris has given it some depth and texture, while maintaining the fine herbal/savoury mineral note that great Aligote shows.

"This is a light, sinewy pinot noir that responds admirably to air. Indeed, tasted over a 24 hour period, it looked its longest, brightest and best at the end of that time. It tastes of strawberry/red cherry, mint, aromatic herbs and woodsy, peppery spice. Tannin is very nicely played and, so long as it's had time to breathe, length is good'. 93 pts. Drumborg Riesling from Henty (think Hamilton-Warrnambool) is a multi-generational classic, knocking riesling lovers' socks off since the late 1960s.
Pure in flavour, fresh, clean and intense, this one shows the classic Henty hallmarks of citrus and pear. Not as intensely limey as it's south australian counterparts, shows a more blanced approach to citrus on the palate. Fine acidity from the cool climate imparts an ability to age wonderfully. A classic.

"Our 21 Year Old Para Tawny is a single vintage wine made from select parcels of the 2004 vintage, carefully drawn from the barrel and bottled to showcase its unique character. Reflecting the growing conditions of a single season, the wine was matured in well-seasoned oak hogsheads. Fortified with aromatic, creamy brandy spirit, it has developed spiced and complex characters through extensive aging." - Winery's Notes

Our traditional house style Tawny - a fortified wine with rich lingering flavours of toasted almonds, praline and vanilla nougat. Para Grand Tawny is the result of careful blending of individual vintage parcels to achieve an average age of 10 years. Patiently matured in oak barrels within the historic cellars of our Seppeltsfield winery, this fortified wine displays hallmark palate richness and finesse. - Winery Notes

The Seppeltsfield Paramount Collection is inspired by the traditional Spanish and Portuguese 'fractional blending' method of aging wines. This system delivers high quality and style consistency by blending younger wines into old. After utilising only the very first cut of free-run juice and fortification with a neutral spirit, the DP898 Aged Flor Apera is matured in our Solero nurseries to an approximate average of 48 years, featuring individual components of over half a century in age.

This classic Dry Apera was sourced from the historic treasure trove of fortified wine at Seppeltsfield. This Amontillado blend consists of DP116 (Aged Flor Apera) and DP117 (Dry Flor Apera).
"Lifted, complex and densely packed - honeyed almonds, toasted nuts, toffee and woody spice. Rich and undeniably dry, with vibrant acidity and a long saline finish."

Est. in 1851, Seppeltsfield is one of Barossa’s oldest wineries. With that in mind, it’s unsurprising they make such top-notch drops. Take their Grenache, for example, awarded Best Grenache at the Adelaide Wine Show in 2022. It punches well above its price, showing vibrant fruit, defined but moderate body and juicy cranberry tartness.

The Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc renaissance is a welcome one, eschewing the sickly, grassy drops of yesteryear and ushering in crisp, dry, modern offerings like the Seresin. An exuberant passionfruit nose leaps up at you, though a surprisingly restrained and refreshing palate lies below, with notes of citrus curd and lemon verbena.

We rarely see Albarino - arguably Spain’s best known & most popular white variety - at this low price. If you imagine a blend of Riesling, unwooded Chardonnay and Viognier, you’re on the right track. Fresh, aromatic, fragrant. Mid-weight, crunchy and zippy on the palate. Basically, delicious.

"From the original pinot noir vines planted in 1972. Whole bunches (100%), natural fermentation in barrel, 100% new oak. A light, bright ruby garnet. Very perfumed, the whole bunches and the oak have been swallowed up by the fruit. Little red strawberries, peony, licorice root, spice and a little tobacco on the bouquet. Delicate yet powerful and structured, this is another fascinating Dr McMahon wine that will take time for the winemaker's influence to submerge. 50 dozen made." Phillip Rich … more
