Burghound 'Louis Boillot's views are consistent with those of his wife Ghislaine Barthod.... I would add only that Boillot noted that he began the harvest on the 2nd of September in Volnay. As the scores and commentaries confirm, Boillot did fabulously well in 2015, indeed I would go so far as to say that they are among the best wines that I have ever seen from him. Moreover Beaujolais lovers should not ignore those wines either as all three are … more

'A surprisingly high-toned nose freely displays notes of cranberry, red raspberry, earth and a hint of anise character. There is excellent volume and richness to the bigger and more powerful flavors that are less refined but equally persistent on the youthfully austere and dusty but not rustic finale. This very firm effort is also clearly constituted for the long haul.' 91-93pts Burghound.

Supplier Notes "The Beaujolais Villages is a new interpretation of the elegance of the Beaujolais wine villages. It bears the inimitable signature of Mee Godard and celebrates the richness of this exceptional terroir. On sight, this wine presents a bright ruby red colour. On the nose, aromas of crunchy red fruits such as raspberry and cherry mingle with delicate floral notes. On the palate, the silky texture is supported by fine tannins, creating a balanced and elegant taste experience. The … more

Domaine Mee Godard allows us a glimpse of the future of the Beaujolais region at its best. It's a small Domaine of six hectares of vineyards, mostly located in the sumptuous Morgon. The uncompromising attitude established by Mee, coupled with very old vines across the estate (60 years of age on average) produces state of the art, profound, complex wines with lots of character. The "Corcelette" vineyard is located at the Northwestern end of Morgon with sandy and granitic soils.

From vines planted after 1945 this cuvee consists of the 'younger vines' mostly 40-60 years old planted in the heart of this outstanding lieu-dit La Roilette. This is also vinified in large cement vats with very gentle vinification of gently submerging the cap of the ferments giving very fine tannins. Each year we taste the different cuvees with Bernard we agonise about which cuvee of La Roilette to buy and for the tiny difference in price we usually opt for … more

The Sarrazin brothers are known for making spectacular high-altitude Côte Chalonnaise Burgundy from the village of Jambles, a tiny hamlet just outside of Givry. Unusually, all of their wines are aged in barrique exclusively from the famed tonnelier Francois Frères, and this Bourgogne sees approx 20% new oak.
"More discreet though by no means invisible oak frames the super-fresh, cool and reserved nose that offers up notes of spiced plum and violets. The sleek and intense barely middle weight flavors possess good delineation and an attractive mouthfeel, all wrapped in a balanced and moderately firm finale. 88-91" - Burghound

Exclusively owned by the Joly family, the Coulée de Serrant vineyard is a controlled appellation of only 7 hectares.
The vineyard was planted in 1130 by Cistercian monks and today consists of vines aged from 35 to 80 years old. The old small monastery still exists and a few hundred meters away, the castle of La Roche aux Moines was built and dismantled during the wars of religion.
Always considered as a rare and unique product, the Serrant Casting was … more

Lamarche's 1.35 hectares of vineyards in the Clos de Vougeot are situated over three terroirs: one is at the top of the Clos near the Château (actually there are two small parcels in the area known as Montiotes Hautes); another is in the middle tranche on the Vosne side (Petits Maupertuis); and the remaining parcel is lower down near the RN74 (Baudes Basses). All three parcels are picked at the same time and co-fermented in open-top wooden vats.

Produced from 2 parcels representing 1.70 ha of Pinot Noir each located in the "Les Grands Epenots " and "Les Petits Epenots". The vines of the "Grands Epenots" are 28 years old and 55 years old for the "Petits Epenots", they produce an average yield of 45 hl/ha. Following the sorting the grapes are destemmed and a pre-fermentation skin maceration for 3 to 5 days at 8°C will be carried out. Cement vats are used for the fermentations that will … more

This comes mainly from a well-situated 0.6-hectare parcel of 35-year-old vines planted on a northeast-facing hillside just south of Chassagne. There is also a little Chassagne village fruit in the blend. The fruit is hand-picked, pressed and left to settle. It naturally ferments on lees for 12 months in small stainless-steel vats and older barrels. The wine is then blended and settled for a further six months in tank before bottling. This has always been a lovely drink, but today, … more

Chardonnay grown at the top of the vineyard on white marl which is perfectly suited to the variety. The vineyard faces east looking across the valley towards En Charlemagne but does not lose the sun early in the evening thanks to the steep wooded hillside above.

A Grand Cru in all but name, located mid-slope, oriented toward the east with a luminosity from the first rays of morning until the dwindling rays of sunset. Small clay deposits. Always rich in limestone accompanied by an elevated level of iron, explaining the reddish tint. The coarse sandy deposits one finds here are key in lightening the soil and optimising the circulation of water. In short, a beautiful soil to work with and emblematic of a grand soil.
