Argyros 'Cuvee Monsignori' Old Vine Assyrtiko 2022

100% Assyrtiko from old vines within a section of one of their oldest vineyards. The vines are cultivated in the traditional basket style, called "kouloura" to protect the grapes from the wind.

Some of the other old vine cuvees from Argyros include oak maturation, but Cuvee Monsignori sees no oak, just extended leees aging, highlighting the saline drive and fine tanninc texture inherent to Assyrtiko. A spectacular wine.

Producer Notes - "Excessively old Assyrtiko vineyards, at least two hundred years old, giving minute yields. Fermented, partially uninoculated, in stainless steel, at cool temperatures and aged for ten months in stainless steel tanks on fine lees. A wine of breed, extract and length, that needs about four years in bottle to unfold and can be confidently kept for more than a decade after vintage."
