Rockford "Moppa Springs" Grenache Mataro Shiraz 2018

Winery Notes - "Moppa Springs, Ebenezer and Kalimna are some of the driest areas in the Barossa, where green vines grow on one side of the fence and ripened wheat on the other. This hard country is cold, wet, and frosty during pruning, then hot, dry and dusty during harvest. These are the kind of tough conditions that ensure Grenache, Mataro and Shiraz give their best. These varieties and the families who grow them earned the right to represent the Barossa in this traditional blend by surviving for more than 150 years when others could not.

Whilst the very wet 2017 vintage provided a welcomed elegance and fineness to our wines, this 2018 vintage is a step back to warmer, fruit driven wines that our customers associate with Rockford. Each of the three components playing their part in this classic blend. Bright fruit and white spice in the predominate Grenache, a savory undertone of Mataro and just a hint of Shiraz to offer a tannic backbone to tie it all together. This wine is a great reflection of the vintage, with generosity of flavour, earthiness, and the ability to age in the bottle."
