Kerri Geens Murra Pinot Noir 2019

Winery Notes "The vintage of 2019 offered exemplary conditions, plenty of natural acid, sophisticated intricate flavour profiles barely contained by small healthy berries on hardened stems.

The Murra Pinot Noir comes from our home site up at Red Hill. Various clones of Pinot Noir planted by Geoff and Sue Duke from 1989 through to 1994 combine to produce a wine definitely of its place. Hand picked and placed as whole bunches in a single 2tonne open fermenter, we kick things off with a dash of already wild fermenting Pinot Noir at the base. Covered for 2 weeks before basket pressing to tank then barrel, old french barriques.

Racking and bottling took place over 3 days in early December, unfined, unfiltered with sulphur kept to a minimum.

Dense crimson red at sight, aromatics all stalky, carbonic; lifted and loud.

Tastes of glossy red fruits picked straight from the bush. Savoury tannins from stem and skin gives intrigue. a more serious wine than it lets on.

140 dozen made."

Stalky and spicy, fresh red fruits, fine level of rosy perfume. It’s medium-bodied, tight and crunchy, with a distinct ‘mineral’ feel to it, along with cool acidity, sharp focus, and fine slate-y tannin. Finish is sappy and fresh fruited, long and clean.
