This replaces the wine known as Brut Tradition, although it is now 100% Côte des Blancs Chardonnay. The fruit for this wine is predominantly grown, as it always has been, in vineyards on the southern side of Vertus. These are vineyards on roughly the same "Latitude", and this new name also hints at the breadth of texture that the wines from these vineyards tend to offer up, even when only Chardonnay is used. In the past, this wine contained up … more

"The champagnes of Pierre Gimonnet & Fils are intricately assembled by masterful hands exclusively from enviably positioned and painstakingly tended old vines. Every cuvée sings its aspiration of 'precision, purity and minerality', each speaking articulately of its place in the northern Côte des Blancs through expressive, chalky minerality, without one molecule of detail out of place. A precise, crystalline wine, the NV Brut Cuvée de Réserve is the perfect wine with which to explore the Péters Champagnes. Lemon peel white, flowers and slate are super-expressive throughout in a Champagne that impresses with its finely-sculpted personality and energy. The Cuvée de Réserve is quite powerful, but never heavy. Slightly tropical overtones add the final shades of nuance. The Cuvée de Réserve draws on fruit sources outside Mesnil. It remains one of the best values in artisan Champagne.
