This is the leading independent Madeira shipping house and practise an uncompromising devotion to the quality of their vineyards and their wines. Henriques is the only house we know of that owns and farms a significant proportion of its own vineyards. They are also unique in their holdings of extensive stocks in cask, some more than a century old. Planted at altitudes up to 400-metres located in the north of the island, this late maturing grape is used to produce fruity, medium-dry styles. At this level Verdelho produces a striking, off-dry wine. With age, the wines grow in intensity, developing delicious honeyed depths and a creamy texture that is balanced by racy acidity.
