'We call this wine Pinot Grigio because it’s dry with an acid backbone and a savoury, moreish character.
It exhibits red apple and brown pear, rose and spicy cinnamon aromas with a hint of bread crust goodness. The palate is dry, savoury and textural with preserved lemon rind, fennel and pear flavours.' Wine Maker Note

Chrismont has long realized the potential of Pinot Grigio as a variety to excite the palates of Australian wine drinkers, and boasts some of the most established vines in the King Valley. What makes our Pinot Grigio style so distinctive is the decision of when to harvest, which comes when we see the first development of green melon flavours in the fruit and its acidity levels still around 7.5 to 8.0g/L. This usually gives a potential alcohol of 11.0 with … more

"It's grown at about 300 metres above sea level on vines that are now nearly ten years old. It now comes in a proprietary 'King Valley' prosecco bottle, which is lovely to see - a real sign of confidence/harmony for the region. Reckon they are bang on with this release. It's fine and crisp but not at all lacking in flavour. Red apples galore. Some bready complexity. More than an ounce of finesse. More-ish lisp of fruit sweetness. Tick tick … more

From the King Valley in Victoria, this is a delightful example of a riesling, and one of our best value options under $18. Aromatic, good fruit and lengthy acid - without the "Clare kick".

The aim of this Yarra Valley Pinot Gris is for texture and harmony. The pressings were kept in and these add a gentle phenolic bite; a slippery pinot gris that is easy to drink and still friendly with food; 20% of the wine was fermented in oak, which were old white hogsheads; the barrels were stirred monthly to bring out creaminess and texture from the lees; bottled fresh to retain liveliness and fresh fruit characters; Fresh and lively, crunchy nashi … more

From Chris Catlow - quickly becoming one of Beechworth's rising stars.
Aligoté is not so run of the mill variety wise, but think crunchy fresh Chardonnay with a lick of Arneis. It's native to Burgundy, but performs very well in the single vineyard in King valley. Chris has given it some depth and texture, while maintaining the fine herbal/savoury mineral note that great Aligote shows.

"Grafted three winters ago from cuttings taken in the Mornington Peninsula. Grown in the deep volcanic soils of Whitfield in the King Valley. Hand picked, crushed and pressed straight to a stainless steel tank for natural fermentation on full solids. Nine month elevage without any movement. A much more traditional Aligoté.
My first experience with Aligoté was in Gevrey Chambertin which was made into a stunning Bourgogne Blanc for staff and clients, later in Meursault a more serious rendition. Often … more

Pinot noir from Rory Lane, the brains behind Story Wines. Whitlands in the King Valley is known for being one of the cooler climates in the Australian viticultural landscape.
The resulting wine is imbued with a distinctly cool climate feel. There's spice and a touch of exotic savouriness (think amaro-ish characters), coupled with red fruits and hints of rhubarb. This is a complex and thought provoking wine. One to enjoy on a slow evening.
