Wonery Notes - "Grosset Gaia from the cooler 2022 vintage shows impressive generosity and balance - the hallmarks of this wine for more than three decades. It has positive aromatics, gentle at first, then assertive; there are all the vibrant briary, brambly notes that you would expect. There's a brooding quality about the wine that demands close inspection. It is satiny smooth, tight and fine, but displaying its bright blackcurrant, dark liqueur cherry, blackberry, bramble flavours that are deep, satisfying … more

Producer's Notes - "Viognier grown on the pre-Cambrian era soils of Heathcote, Victoria.
Organically grown viognier from Toolleen was pressed firmly as whole clusters. The juice was fermented and aged in a combination of stainless steel and seasoned Stockinger puncheons. An expressive wine - Earl Grey tea, white flower potpourri and herbal inflections lead to fuzzy white peach and tangerine zest.
I am deeply fond of the gastronomic white wines of the Rhone valley and encourage you to enjoy this … more

Gustave Lorentz has not been subtle about what they want you to pair with their l'ami des Crustaces Pinot Blanc. Thankfully we agree with the pairing, so crack out the Oyster shuck and put a bottle in the fridge - this dry, saline and refreshing drop will meet succulent shellfish perfectly with scents of honeydew, lemon zest and fresh ginger.

"This is the entry-level Amontillado from Bodegas Gutierrez Colosia, located right by the sea in El Puerto de Santa Maria. It starts its life as a Fino and after three years it moves to an oxidative phase which lasts another five years. At the time of bottling, it is around 8-9 years old."
Nose: it’s easy to notice the Fino background of this wine. Maritime notes, some sea air, but also plenty of round notes like (salted) caramel, runny honey … more

Bottled, May 2020.
This Sherry hails from from "el Puerto de Santa Maria", and is called Fino del Puerto. Puerto de Santa Maria is down the coast from Sanlucar, roughly level with Jerez and faces Cadiz across an estuary bay. Gutierrez Colosia are one of the only remaining producers of authentic Fino del Puerto. The wine is lovely - pretty well a mid-point between Manzanilla and Jerez Finos in style. Coastal, but less overtly briny than Manzanilla. Delicately earthy with … more

A bone dry Oloroso, product of very slow oxidative ageing : more than 7 years in butts.
Chestnut brown, watery quince at the rim. Sandalwood, golden tobacco and sweet spice
frame a rich, round nose of maple-roasted walnuts. The palate juxtaposes power and
elegance, with hazelnut praline, honey-drizzled green fig & toffee. There’s a fine line of
cold, over-steeped billy tea and forest smoke and a complex, fragrant tangle of autumn
leaves, balsam, spicy leather and mellow wood. A precise, … more

Uva Non Grata (Latin for 'ungrateful grapes') refers to the historical downgrading of Gamay while Pinot Noir became the ascendant of the two grapes in Burgundy. Gamay loves the granite/siliceous soils of the vineyards in the hills to the north west of Lyon in eastern France. The grapes were hand picked deliberately early to maintain freshness. In the cellar, grapes are vinified using traditional carbonic maceration techniques followed by a short cuvasion to keep the upfront, juicy fruit characters in … more

Pure vodka is very different to their black range vodka, designed to work well in all your favourite cocktails where vodka does not need to be the hero. Unlike the black range vodka, this is designed to have a neutral flavour with very little aromatics and less texture on the palate.
