Producers Profiles
Bindi

In 1988 Michael and Bill Dhillon planted 11 acres of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay vines on the slopes of Mount Gisborne at the heal of the Great Dividing Range. Since then a further four acres have been planted bringing total plantings to 15 acres. As the vineyards have grown and matured, so has the reputation of Bindi's wines.

Michael certainly believes in producing wines that are "ethereal and seductive" and that express the "terroir" of the Bindi soils. Bindi's cool climate vineyards typically yield only a miserly 1 1/2 - 2 tonnes per acre, comparable to the Grand Crus of Burgundy, and the result is extremely limited productions each year. As Bindi's reputation grows, demand grows and the wines are becoming increasingly hard to find.
