Bindi Pyrette Shiraz 2013

Diam cork closure. Pyrette Heathcote Shiraz is sourced from an impeccably sited and managed vineyard near Colbinabbin on the Mount Camel Range. The specific parcel of vines this fruit comes from is at the highest block on deep red, rocky Cambrian soils on a cooler easterly facing slope. The picking date is carefully assessed in order to capture fruit vibrancy and freshness whilst also capturing the typical mouthfilling richness and length of the region. The wine is made in 1000 litre open vats, fermented with ambient yeast and matured in French barrels, 20% new. The yield, harvest date and winemaking are deliberately aimed at producing a wine of regional authenticity in a style highlighting fragrance, vitality, finesse and harmony.

'The 2013 season in Heathcote provided exceptionally high quality fruit from the 15 year old Colbinabbin vineyard. The wine has vivid raspberry and red and black cherry aromas with sine graphite and earthy characters as well as very suptle spices. The palate is fresh and supple with very good intensity, weight and length. It is quite complex and will certainly become more so. Currently the 2005 and 2006 are just approaching their very best and this wine will also improve for five years at least. It is a wine that certainly has a foot in two camps owing to it's stlye of deliciously medium weight Shiraz whilst also having Pinot lovers fragrance and elegance. Michael Dhillon
