Nervi-Conterno Rosato 2018

Coming off four Crus within the Gattinara commune, ranging between 290-420 metres in elevation, the grapes are harvested towards the end of September, usually a week or two before the Gattinara DOCG fruit is brought into the winery. The fruit is de-stemmed and gently pressed before a 5-6-hour maceration to extract some colour. Fermentation takes 15-16 days at a low temperature, and then kept cool to ensure that the wine doesn't go through malo, maintaining the brightness, vitality and acidity. Post fermentation, the wine is racked into steel tanks and left on gross lees for 6 months to build some additional texture. Finishing with around 5 grams of residual sugar works perfectly with the level of phenolics from the grape skins. The wine has beautiful notes of rose petals, florals and crunchy berries supported by a finely but persistent tannin frame, with minerals and cherry blossom on the palate.
