Winamker Marc Lunt was born in NZ however grew up in South Australia not too far from the Barossa Valley. His wine journey began with colombard on the Adelaide Plains before relocating to the Yarra Valley where he has spent the last ten years. However it was his decade working harvests in France that really brought him to where he is today.
This is a 100% whole bunch semi-carbonic Gamay from Whitfield in the King Valley. No added sulphur.
'Carries a bit of mint and aniseed, but also deep clod earth and spice, along with sour cherry and strawberry. It’s fleshy and rich in tannin, with a distinct sour cherry flavour profile and acidity, that iron, meat and earth thing very lovely and fetching, with a finish of dry furry tannin and amaro herb. Very nicely done. Excellent drinking to be had here. Feels ‘authentic’, if you can say such a thing. Also a slight co2 spritz in the wine noted.' 92 Points - Gary Walsh, The Wine Front
