Equipo Navazos 'I Think' Manzanilla Saca de June 2021 375ml

This is truly a 'Junior de La Bota'. The wine spent some 4½ years under flor before being bottled gently (en rama) to preserve the original authenticity (colour, intensity and aromas) and so as to deliver a Manzanilla in the bottle that tasted as though it were being served straight from the cask. It has almost the same deliciousness rating as the La Bota Manzanilla releases - super tangy, spicy, pungent, salty, chalky, cool, refreshing and long - but, obviously, it is less complex. Regardless, those who have been working with the super rare and much pricier Navazos sherries will be delighted to have a more accessible 'entry-point' wine to share with a wider clientele. It remains light years away from the more common and conventional, heavily-filtered Manzanillas. It will certainly make you wonder why there is not more great sherry of this nature being bottled.

The name and the label by the way reference a much debated page found posthumously in the notebooks of Charles Darwin. Many believe this doodle with the words "I think" beside it may have been penned at the moment Darwin grasped his theory (now law) of evolution by natural selection. Sherry evolves too, and the "I think" Manzanilla is certainly another great leap forward.
