Making a mark in Cote de Beaune right now we find Pierre-Yves Colin-Morey. Colin-Morey is notable for producing stunning, intuitive Bourgogne Blanc, which focus on site-specific expressions of the Chardonnay variety. He honed his winemaking skills working for his father, Marc Colin, and after inheriting 6 hectares of vineyards in St. Aubin, he quickly set about launching his own domaine in 2006. Almost immediately his wines were a tour de force. Having also worked as a négociant he's been able to augment the grapes he grows (70% of his grapes are those that he grows) with high quality grapes acquired from leading premier and grand crus vineyards such as Chevalier Montrachet. The results are spectacular, natural wines rich with minerality and character.
The Cuvée Marguerite is a blend of three parcels, En Créot, Les Combes and Perrières in equal parts, and named for his grandmother, who died in 2016 at the time of the frost. Bright limey citrus with a hint of oak spice and the textbook PYCM flinty note too. Tightly coiled and very juicy, with mouth-watering tartness to give an intense balance of fruit and acidity.
