Head Red Shiraz 2018

The Head Red Shiraz 18 is amalgamation of fruit destined for Head's single vineyard wines, largely across cooler, higher altitude plots across Eden. Unlike some of their other wines, this bottling is mostly matured in old oak, letting the wine itself do most of the talking. Ripe tannins and juicy, plump fruit character is kept in check with fresh acidity. At $25 a bottle, the Head Red is an absolute steal.

"There's a lot happening here, all of it good. 80% is sourced from the Eden Valley, 20% the Barossa Valley, co-fermented on skins for 14 days, matured in French oak (10% new), the barrel size ranging from 225l to 2250l.
