This eighty-year-old vineyard is on the most eastern part of Lanciego, facing mostly west and south with good exposure. It is just under a hectare in size (.93ha) with traditional bush vines on chalky clay at 610 meters altitude. El Velado is a field blend of mostly Garnacha and Tempranillo, but other old varieties are also present including some white. Hidalgo Oloroso Single Vineyard Anada 1986 500ml

A vintage sherry from 12 old barrels filled in 1986 from the El Cuadrado vineyard. The wine matured for 20 years in the San Francisco bodega and 2800 bottles were filled in 2007.

An epic sherry; smells mature, nutty and oily. A full, elegant palate shows the right weight and acidic cut, while salty flavors of peanut and caramel finish long, nutty. It has the elegance of Sanlucar with classy intensity and concentration. Some black treacle, cloves and wood spices. … more

Pegaso Barrancos de Pizzara Garnacha 2007 Magnum

A 'barranco' is a radical vineyard, and they really are: brown schist, ravine-steep, ultra-high-altitude, no 'soil' to speak of, and quite minerally with lots of quartz. Fruit from old, niggardly centenarian bush-vines, now farmed biodynamically, is now gently handled in large older French oak and concrete eggs. Smells of brick-dust, floral red fruits, pimiento and woodspice. Big never so beautiful - it has space, grace and wisdom exceeding extract and alcohol.

La Bota de Malt Whisky 66 “Bota NO” is sourced solely from malted barley grown and distilled in Castilla la Vieja. Its age is estimated at around twelve years of which the past seven have been spent in a single dry oloroso cask. Hidalgo Amontillado 'Napoleon' VORS 500ml

Producer Notes: According to traditional methods, our 50-year-old Amontillado is born of grape must of the Palomino fino variety, carefully cultivated in white albariza soils, highly prized for obtaining very fine musts of great quality. The grapes come from our own vineyards located in the Balbiana and Miraflores vineyards, considered the best in the Jerez region. Harvesting takes place at the beginning of September, when the grape reaches its perfect maturity, and it is the yolk must, obtained without exerting … more

Palacios Remondo Propriedad Rioja 2010 Magnum

100% Garnacha.

The 2010 has been characterized by winemaker Alvaro Palacios as being a year of incredible grace and charm. Overall an extremely dry vintage, full of natural sunlight, temperatures were actually cooler than in previous years and the majority of the bunches only began to ripen when a few hot days broke out among the greater number of mild days and cool nights. Alvaro says that this extended maturation led to wines that have great structural support, are fresh … more

Williams & Humbert 'William's Colección' Amontillado Viejisimo Estático en rama 2001 (Bottled January 2019) 500ml

Only 750 litres bottled. After delicate fermentation, the original Fino was aged biologically at 15.5% and later re-fortified to 18% later. Later Amontillados (after 2003) have not been re-fortified at all. This, Paola's first Amontillado, was biologically-aged for 10 years, at which time, it was re-fortified, topped and aged oxidatively for a further 8 years until classified Amontillado.

Supremely elegant, mineral and vibrant with great complexity. Brilliant amber in colour, very complex aromas, dry in the mouth, mineral, round, and … more

Williams & Humbert 'William's Colección' Oloroso Viejisimo Estático en rama 2001 (Bottled January 2019) 500ml

Super deep and complex, rich and saline, with a pure developed perfume. Mapled acorn-rich, lightly glyceric, deeply spiced, strong at the rim, releasing to an athereal boof from a structural base. Fine glazed toffee nut, orange blossom, sunflower and pumpkin seeds, dried chestnut honey, toasted hazelnuts, delicate tangerine caramel, brandied citrus, sandalwood. The acidity itself is incredibly complex, carrying brine and rind, fine old wheat and praline in a gloriously patinated, running mouthfeel. Finish = forever!

Williams & Humbert 'William's Colección' Palo Cortado Viejisimo Estático en rama 2002 (Bottled January 2019) 500ml

As with the other wines, the fruit source is Pagos A_ina and Carrascal. This wine is from a fruit selection of extremely fine young material which Paola hoped might develop naturally into Palo Cortado. It was set to age oxidatively from the get-go, in topped barrels fortified to 18 degrees. After 17 years' ageing the wine was finally classified Palo Cortado in 2018, and this is the first bottling as such.

Extremely fine, and silky wine, elegant and mineral. Golden … more
