Beloki Crianza DOCA Tempranillo 2018
Crianza is a labelling term that sits one above Joven (young, unoaked), and one below Reserva (3 years ageing). You'll find great value and young drinking wines in this tier - as you'll see from Beloki. This wine is 100% Tempranillo and serves up an aromatic nose with scents of mulberries, cranberries, tobacco leaf and red earth. Tannins are supple and smooth, sliding over the palate and leaving a lingering smokiness.

Palacios Remondo Rioja La Montesa 2017 375ml
Red-black fruits, earthy and savoury with a hint of tobacco from the Tempranillo in the blend. It’s a gently gurgling brook in the mouth, nimble and running, mineral, elegant. Structurally, it’s close to impossible to tell where earth, oak, tannin, acid and minerals each begin and end - they meld to affect a disarmingly simple ‘mouthfeel’ within the fruit. Tempranillo / Garnacha.

Luis Cañas Rioja Viura 2021
A lover of rich Chardonnay or textural, unctuous Cotes du Rhone Blancs? Put your usual weeknight bottle down and try this ripping good value Rioja Blanco. Despite being best known for its Tempranillo blends, Rioja is also home to some exceptional whites that are loaded with texture and character. Predominantly made from Viura, the grapes are ripened gloriously on sun-drenched chalk terraces in Rioja, then matured in oak for adding savoury complexity.

Valenciso Laderas de Cabama Rioja 2018
Everything Luis Valentín and Carmen Enciso touch has quality written all over it. This fresh and vibrant Rioja is no exception. While this wine doesn't quite have the density and power of the old-vine Valenciso bottling above, it's not far off!

Bodegas R. López de Heredia Viña Tondonia Reserva 2011
94 Pts Luis Gutierrez of The Wind Advocate "The 2011 Viña Tondonia Reserva is darker and shows riper fruit, a rounder palate and some dusty tannins. A year of ripeness, concentration and tannin, the wine is powerful with the finesse of Tondonia. Tasting this next to the textbook 2010 Tondonia revealed how this has more muscle and a wider back and the 2010 epitomizes the finesse and elegance. 270,000 bottles produced, bottled in May 2019."
