Massolino Barolo Vigna Rionda Riserva Etichetta Nera 2016

Vigna Rionda is historically the most revered vineyard of Serralunga, the source of some of the greatest, most structured, robust and long-lived Barolo. The name derives from the word rotonda (round) used to describe the amphitheatre shape of this south-facing vineyard. The Massolino family are the largest holder with 2.3 hectares (today Angelo Gaja has a fair chunk as well). The soil here is similar to the Parafada vineyard (limey/chalky marls) yet there is more chalk and also a higher … more

Massolino Barolo Vigna Rionda Riserva 2017

Vigna Rionda is historically the most revered vineyard of Serralunga and the source of some of the greatest, finest and most long-lived Barolo. The Massolino family are the largest holders in this Cru with 3.5 hectares of Vigna Rionda vines, aged between 40 and 50 years old. On some of the oldest soils of Barolo, there is very little topsoil here, with a high concentration of limestone, oxidised iron and other mineral elements. The altitude is also 300 metres above … more

Massolino Barolo Margheria 2019 Magnum

The Margheria vineyard is one of Serralunga's most important and illustrious sites. The Massolino family bought their first parcel here in 1964, and the remainder came online during the '70s. The current holding is 1.5 hectares. Sitting at 280 metres above sea level, Margheria is a very chalky vineyard with a good percentage of sand (which brings elegance), while the high calcium carbonate content brings vibrant, mineral energy to the natural depth of Serralunga.

As with all three 2019 Crus, … more

Massolino Barolo del Comune di Serralunga d'Alba DOCG 2019 Magnum

Diam. First produced in 1911, the fruit for Massolino's classic cuvée is selected from seven sites across roughly seven hectares of prime-sited Serralunga vineyards. The most important of these sites-Briccolina, Collareto, Broglio and Le Turne-are dotted around the town itself (Le Turne borders Margheria, while Collareto lies next to Vigna Rionda)-so we are talking quality real estate. The 2019 also includes a little declassified fruit from Massolino's Parussi Cru. Vine age varies from 10 to 55 years.

Luigi Oddero Barolo Vigna Rionda 2014

14.5%, this is a characteristic 14 vintage for us. A vintage not given anywhere near enough air-time, this is a perfect example of how beautiful it can be. Compact and focused with crunchy red-fruited purity, cranberries, currants, wild strawberries with perfumed talc notes and a suggestion of mandarin peel - super enticing with a precision of frame, underlying minerality and beautiful freshness.

For all who criticized the 2014 vintage across the board, this is a great counterpoint. Opening with enticing … more

La Ca' Növa Barbaresco 2019

"La Ca' Növa 2019 Barbaresco will tempt readers with its effusive aromatics and compelling Nebbiolo fruit, but a few years in bottle are advisable to help the tannins soft. Medium in body and wonderfully

translucent, the 2019 is such a great example of what Barbaresco should be. Bright red fruit, orange peel, white pepper, mint and crushed rocks lend striking energy throughout. Vibrant saline notes support the dry, bracing finish. Vineyard sites are Ovello, Cole and Loreto." 93 points, Antonio … more

A crisp refreshing dry white wine. Pale gold in colour with flashes of diamond brilliance, it has a light, fresh, mineral and citrus bouquet. The palate is crisp and dry, with a hint of ripe pears and a complex array of red and green maples, the finish is mouth-wateringly refreshing and lengthy.

Giuseppe Cortese Barbaresco Rabajà 2019

This wine is 100% Nebbiolo grapes grown in Barbaresco's prestigious Rabajà vineyard, located just south of Cortese's winery. To achieve the perfect structural balance, the wine is aged for twenty-two months in seasoned Slavonian oak casks, then bottled and cellared for an additional thirteen months.

Unfiltered to preserve its richness, this remarkably elegant Barbaresco offers concentrated aromas of raspberries, roses, violets, leather and spice. Full-bodied with robust flavor and firm tannins.
