Cillar de Silos Crianza Tempranillo 2015

Blueberry, tobacco and hung beef - it's gotta be Ribera! Well, good Ribera anyway ...With a pronounced earthiness, cool and precise in line, low in fructose, elegant and fine. Not a wine of bigness, it's a lovely, pure wine of very high quality and beautifully composed. Dark cherry fruit specked with tobacco melds into a fine tannin line which itself seems indivisible from fruit and also from earth and is wired on steely minerals and fine natural acidity.

Cillar de Silos Joven Tempranillo 2016

Tobacco and anise add complexity to earthy dark cherry - pure Ribera del Duero fruit with a brambly boysenberry and cassis lift. Mineral and savoury, masculine but in no way big, there’s only mid-level glycerol and fine, long, very mature tannins. A wonderful wine.

Ribera del Duero is an important wine zone in Castilla y León, that is now challenging Rioja as the leading wine-producing region in Iberia. A continental climate, with a high diurnal temperature variation, helps to grow grapes of a very high quality.

Cillar de Silos Torresilo Tempranillo 2015

Beautifully made, perfectly integrated Tempranillo. Full, rich and spicy red-black fruits, very silky tannins. Great concentration, but the perfume, silk and spice keep it clearly in the elegant register, despite the impressive fruit heft.

If you don't like this wine, then you just don't like Tempranillo!

Clos Mogador Manyetes Priorat 2004

"Clos Manyetes is owned by Rene Barbier of Clos Mogador. The 2004 Manyetes offers an expressive but brooding aromatic profile with mineral, smoke, blueberry, and black currant liqueur. Larger in scale than the 2003, with more mouth-filling fruit, it is beautifully balanced and nearly seamless. There is tannin to lose but it can barely be noticed. Give this top effort 2-3 years to evolve and drink it through 2017." 93/100. Robert Parker.

Comando G La Bruja de Rozas Garnacha 2017

The La Bruja de Rozas is a Villages style wine. The name translates to ‘the witch of Rozas.’ Superstitions and rumours abound in the area where near ever-present and eerie cloud cover that sits. The fruit is sourced from several vineyards around near the village of Rozas. And there is more than a hint of Villages Burgundy about the La Bruja. Expect dried cherries and herb notes on the nose and pinpoint signature Gredos/Comando G acidity. A great introduction to … more
