Spanish Sherry, Madeiras and Ports

Rathdowne Cellars is Australia's leading stockist of these fascinating wines from Spain, Madeira and Portugal. At any one time, we carry over 50 different Sherries, Ports and Madeiras. We also conduct various events based around these styles, including tastings, masterclasses and dinners. A special feature we have in store, is for our trained staff to offer tastings of many of the popular styles before making your purchase.

Sherry styles

We stock the complete range of Spanish Sherry styles, from the driest, finest Manzanilla and Fino, through the richer Amontillado and Oloroso, to the luscious Moscatel and Pedro Ximenez. This includes many rare individual vineyard and Almacenista wines from the bodegas of Lustau, Hidalgo, Romate and Valdespino.

Madeiras

The fortified wines from the island of Madeira are indeed unique and are a far cry from the similarly named styles made in Australia. We have a large selection ranging from the basic 5 year old styles of Vinhos Barbeito to the 10 and 15 year old ranges from Henriques & Henriques, through to the most decadent of wines such as the 1795 Terrentez from Vinhos Barbeito.

Genuine ports

On our shelves, we have a selection of genuine Ports from famous Portuguese producers such as Niepoort, Fonseca and Quinta do Noval, including Vintage Character, Late Bottled Vintage and of course Vintage.

Feature Sherry

Lustau 'Los Arcos' Amontillado

Lustau is one of the larger Sherry houses that get imported into Australia and their wines are of consistently good quality. The entry level Amontillado, 'Los Arcos' has been a staple of our range and a favourite of the staff here at Rathdowne Cellars for a very long time. Now available in half bottles! It has always been an affordable option in a dry Sherry, but it just got even better with the arrival of the same great Sherry in a 375ml bottle.
Quite a nutty nose, somewhere between walnut and pecan, with some vanilla notes. The palate is a nice medium weight with very clean acidity and a bit of grip to it. More of those nuts plus a hint of candied citrus peel. It's very refreshing, a great aperitif or to match with some light starters. I love it, it's excellent value.

$30 per bottle (750ml) | $18 per bottle (375ml)
